Captain's guide
Every team has a captain. The captain is responsible for their team knowing the rules, following them, and turning up — and for being reachable, which in practice is the part teams get wrong most often.
Before the season
Section titled “Before the season”- Read this guide and the Rulebook.
- Join Discord and turn on notifications.
- Make sure every player has FACEIT Anti-Cheat installed and tested.
- Register the team on hub.kanaliiga.fi, with every player’s main Steam account and public game hours.
- Once divisions are published, check which one you’re in and how many fixtures a week that means.
Every week
Section titled “Every week”- Agree your fixtures by 20:00 on Friday for the week ahead, then reschedule them on FACEIT.
- Read anything you’re tagged in on Discord.
- Confirm your five for each fixture.
On match day
Section titled “On match day”- Be there 15 minutes early.
- Test your setup before the match, not during it.
- Talk to the opposing captain.
- Check the result on the hub afterwards.
Communication
Section titled “Communication”Discord is the primary channel. Install the mobile app — the single largest source of trouble in past seasons has been captains who were hard to reach.
Reply to messages within 24 to 48 hours. If an opposing captain doesn’t reply within 48 hours, open a ticket rather than letting the deadline pass; see Scheduling.
If your team has a problem, say so early. Almost everything is easier to solve before the fixture than after it.
Agreeing a match
Section titled “Agreeing a match”- Find your opponent for the week.
- Message their captain on Discord.
- Offer two or three times. A scheduling poll helps if it drags.
- Be flexible — everyone is fitting this around work.
- Reschedule on FACEIT once agreed.
Four things worth remembering
Section titled “Four things worth remembering”Follow Discord. Announcements go out there, not by email.
Agree matches early. It makes broadcasts possible and stops the default time deciding your week for you.
There are staff and a helpdesk behind this. Use them. A ticket is the right answer to almost anything, and suggestions are genuinely welcome through the same route.
Play fair and enjoy it. This is an amateur league. Competitive, but the point is that everyone has a good season — including the team you just beat.
Feedback
Section titled “Feedback”Pass on what your team thinks, good and bad. A ticket or a direct message both work.
